Roger Eichbrecht, age 93, of Romeo, Michigan died Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Henry Ford Macomb of Clinton Township, MI. Roger Charles Eichbrecht was born October 25, 1928 in Romeo, MI. He is the son of the late Julius and the late Olive (Fox) Eichbrecht. Roger grew up in Utica, MI. He is a graduate of Utica High School, Class of 1947. He married Elaine Fiebelkorn on August 5, 1950 in Utica, MI. Roger and Elaine moved to the Attica/Metamora area in 1975 and just recently moved to Romeo, MI.
He owned and operated two - Roger's Mobil Service Stations, one in Utica, MI at Clinton River Rd. and Van Dyke Rd., and the other in Shelby Township at 24 Mile Rd. & Shelby Rd., for 30+ years before retiring in 1993. After retiring from operating his own service stations, Roger was employed by Tom Harris Chevy Olds in Imlay City and Thomas Ford in Lapeer.
Roger was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Imlay City, MI. He was a catechism teacher, an usher, and Eucharistic minister. Roger was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady Queen of Peace. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, and traveling (having traveled to 28 states in the United States.
He is survived by: his wife of 71 years, Elaine Eichbrecht; sons, Michael (Ann) Eichbrecht of Washington Twp., MI, Bill (Lynn) Eichbrecht of Livonia, MI and Dan (Jill) Eichbrecht of Little River, SC; his brother: Dave (Judy) Eichbrecht of Lewiston, MI; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by: his son, Richard Eichbrecht; daughter, Patricia Wisdom; and his sister, Betty Leveranz.
James “Jim” Denault, age 64, a longtime resident of Attica formerly of Allenton and Roseville passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 surrounded by his family at home. He was born July 5, 1957 the son of Frank “Rich” & Nancy (Garner) Denault in Detroit. He attended Sacred Heart School until 8th Grade and graduated from Roseville High School and then attended Macomb Community College. He began as Journeyman Die Maker at OHM Manufacturing in Warren. He later became a Controls Engineer and retired from Dominion Technologies after 30 years. He was a 4th Degree member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace, Knights of Columbus Council #4556.
He is survived by his wife Audrey of Attica, his children: Scott (Marianne) of Livonia, Allen (Jolene) Denault of Imlay City, and Kevin Denault of Attica, grandchildren: Lola, Damien, Henry and Genevieve. Jim is also survived by his siblings Sharon (Ed) Lashier, Carol Denault, Diane (Ted) Gladden, Daniel (Maryann) Denault, Frank Denault and Karen (Dan) Lackowski and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves his golden Retriever Abby, that would never leave his side. He is predeceased by his parents Frank “Rich” & Nancy Denault.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 3:00-8:00pm with the Rosary being said at 7:00pm all at Muir Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center 2650 South Van Dyke-Imlay City, MI 48444. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 10:00am with viewing beginning at 9:00am at St. Cornelius Catholic Church 3834 N. Mill St. Dryden, MI 48428 with Father Mike Gawlowski officiating. The Memorial Luncheon will follow Mass at Muir Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center 2650 South Van Dyke-Imlay City, MI 48444.
Vincent “Vince” Famularo, Jr., age 74, of Imlay City, Michigan died Saturday, October 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Vincent Joseph Famularo, Jr. was born May 22, 1947 in Detroit, MI. He is the son of the late Vincent Sr. and the late Lorraine (Plumley) Famularo. Vince grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. He was a graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School, Class of 1965, located in Grosse Pointe, MI. During high school, Vince was involved in swimming and football. He worked as a lifeguard at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Vince continued his education at Wayne State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Special Education and his Master Degree as an Education Specialist in Administration. He married Kathryn Pittenger on June 19, 1971 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Vince and Kathy moved to Imlay City, MI in 1977. He was preceded in death his wife, Kathy, on April 25, 2017.
Vince started his career in the self contained classroom for 2 years. He quickly transitioned as the Principal at the Macomb County Youth Home where he worked for 35 years. During that period of time he also took on the role as the Director of Special Education for L'Anse Creuse Public Schools for 3 years, before retiring. Vince was a member, usher, and on the church council of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Imlay City, MI and a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden, MI. He was also a member of Our Lady Queen Knights of Columbus in Imlay City. Vince was a past president of the Imlay City Community Schools Board of Education; participated in the leadership of Imlay City Softball Leagues and was a little league coach. He loved to go to Disney World and camping in his motorhome with his grandchildren. Vince enjoyed: reading, hunting birds, deer hunting, fishing, and golfing.
He is survived by: his daughters, Carissa Ann Famularo of Imlay City, MI, Anna Marie (Mark) VanWagner of Lapeer, MI and Stephanie Lyn (Michael) Guerin of Imlay City, MI; son: Dana Phillip (Shanel) Famularo of Attica, MI; and his sister, Christina (Thomas) Babcock of Marine City, MI. Vince is also survived by: his grandchildren, Natalie VanWagner, Madison VanWagner, Vincent Guerin, Maxwell Guerin, and Rosalie Guerin. Vince was preceded in death by: his wife, Kathy Famularo; parents, Vincent & Lorraine Famularo, Sr.; parents-in-law, Philip & Doris Pittenger; and brother, Patrick Famularo.
The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, October 28, 2021 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 3834 N. Mill St., Dryden, MI. Reverend Fr. Mike Gawlowski, pastor of St. Cornelius Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial of Vince’s ashes will take place at a later date next to his wife, Kathy, at Mt. Arthur “Art” Korson, age 85, of Dryden, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Arthur Willard Korson was born on February 10th, 1936 in Omena, MI. Son of Arthur and Mollie (Houdek) Korson. Art grew up in Northport, Michigan and graduated from Lake Leelanau St. Mary’s School, Class of 1954. Art continued his education at Ferris State College where he earned his Bachelor of Education degree and then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Agriculture from Michigan State University. Art proudly served in the United States Army from 1959-1960. He married Joyce Schafer on August 15, 1964 in Armada, Michigan. Art and Joyce moved to Dryden, MI in 1968.
He taught typing, business, and drivers training as well as coached basketball at Mackinac City, New Lothrop, Royal Oak Dondero, Rochester West Middle School, and Rochester Adams. After teaching for 32 years, he retired in 1994. Art had a deep faith and was an active member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church where he served in many capacities including the Parish Council President and Building Committee Chairman. He was instrumental in building St. Cornelius’s first addition. He was a man who could fix just about anything and even built his own house. He loved to play euchre and cribbage; and was highly competitive! But most of all, he was probably best known for his love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He hunted all over the world, including Africa, New Zealand, Mexico, England, Argentina, and Canada; and as a Safari Club International member he held several world records for his trophies. He had a quick wit and enjoyed telling the stories of his adventures, making you feel like you were there with him. Art’s family had the comforting assurance that he would always be there for them no matter what. He leaves his family with a legacy of loyalty, honesty, and love. He was a hardworking, faithful provider who raised his sons to be the same for their own families.
Art will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 56+ years, Joyce; his sons: Shannon (Lisa) Korson of West Chester, OH and Brian (Amy) Korson of Rochester, MI; his grandchildren; Allison Korson, Evan (Julia) Korson, Joshua Korson, Benjamin Korson, and Rachel Korson and siblings: Dolores Houdek, Delphine Zugel, Albert (Sue) Korson, Mary (Ray) Feagles, and Vicky (Al Hind) Straw; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Korson, Lin Korson, and Sarah Korson. Art was preceded in death by: his parents and siblings: Loretta, James, Barbara, Raymond, Willard, Joseph, and Blaise.

Donald C. Martus age 72, a life long resident of Brown City, MI entered into eternal life peacefully at home with family by his side on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
Son of Clayton and Mabel (Hobson) Martus, Donald was born on April 28, 1949 in Brown City, MI. He graduated from Brown City High School with the class of 1967. Donald married the love of his life, Brenda Martus, on April 5, 1975. He loved working the earth and crop farming. Donald was a life-long member of St. Mary’s of Burnside Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Donald’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, metal detecting, playing cards and going to Alaska. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Brenda Martus; daughters, Shanna (Forrest) Johnson and Melisa (Jacob) Swoish; grandchildren, Savanna, Carter and Grant; siblings, Kay (Jerry) Cooper and Karen (Larry) Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Clayton and Mabel Martus; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Nellie Bodmer.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at St. Mary’s of Burnside Catholic Church in North Branch, MI with Father Sama Muma officiating.

James Peter Kirk was born on March 29, 1929. After almost 92 remarkable years here on Earth, he passed into Eternal Life on February 5, 2021. Jim's life reflected his deep love of God, country, and family. As a young man he sailed the Great Lakes as a Merchant Marine. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jim began his career as a bricklayer and ultimately became a General Contractor. He owned and operated Kirk Construction Company. His talents, workmanship, and integrity can be seen throughout Lapeer, Oakland, Genesee Counties and beyond. He was always beyond generous with his time, talents, and blessings. He started the athletic program at Bishop Kelly School and coached 7th and 8th grade boys basketball. He worked hard to instill character as well as basketball skills in each young man he coached.
Jim married Linda on November 9, 1984, and they were blessed with 36 wonderful years of marriage.
Jim was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, and the Knights of Columbus. For many years Jim organized and enjoyed an annual golf tournament where he would gather with friends for a week up north.
He treasured his time in Florida with his sister, Sarah, and her family. He loved the many celebrations and gatherings with Linda's side of the family in Michigan. He lovingly referred to his side of the family as "The Addams Family South" and Linda's side of the family as "The Addams Family North". Jim loved them all dearly and they all had such a deep love and respect for him.
He cherished a close group of friends and loved the "Thursday outings with the boys".
Jim leaves behind his wife Linda, his brother-in-law Frank, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and filled his life with so much joy. Jim was blessed with a close circle of friends that he would always count on and never failed to brighten his day.
Jim is preceded in death by his dear sister Sarah Jane Koshko, half-brother Dale Secord, sister-in-law Angelina Marie Davis.
Jim loved Lapeer and so often said "Lapeer has been good to me". With this in mind, if you would like to make a donation in Jim's memory, please consider a local charity like Lapeer Pregnancy Center, Family Literacy Center, Love Inc., or LACADA.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 12th from 3-8 PM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Due to government gathering restrictions only 25 people are able to be in the building at any given time. Masks are required to enter the building. A private funeral service will be held at Lynch & Sons on Saturday, February 13th at 11 AM. Pastor Drew Jolly will be officiating. Jim will be laid to rest at Mt. Loretto Cemetery in Lapeer.
John Cash, 80, passed away on December 20, 2020. John was born February 15, 1940. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gwen, son, David (Theresa) Cash, daughter, Debbie (Jim) Murphy and 5 grandchildren. John retired in January 2004 with 35 years of service from Chrysler Auburn Hills Headquarters. He loved old cars.
Neil F. Martin, 79, of Almont, died on Tuesday January 11, 2021. Neil was born on April11, 1941 in Birmingham, England to parents Frederick and Irene (Ashman) Martin.
After graduation from high school Neil went on to earn his degree as an Electrical Engineer in Toronto. He married the love of his life Mary K. Gordon and they started their life together. He worked for 40 years as a procurement manager and ended up switching to consulting with Airline services. He was a hard worker and loved his job. A devout catholic, Neil attended church at Immaculate Conception here in Lapeer. He will be deeply missed by those close to him.
Neil is survived by his wife Mary K. Gordon of Almont; his sister Celia (Christopher) Ayer of Tucson, Arizona; his aunt Margaret Dewar and his cousin Paul (Henriette) Farr of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents.
Funeral Mass for Neil will be held 11:00AM Friday, January 15, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer. Immediately following Mass, we will be heading to a 2:00PM graveside service at Assumption Grotto Cemetery in Detroit. After graveside, there will be a 3:00PM Memorial Mass at Assumption Grotto Church. The morning of Mass Immaculate Conception asks people refrain from entering the sanctuary until 10:45AM. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loyola Leukemia Research in Chicago.
John Joseph Adamic, age 91, of Silverwood, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. John was born in Detroit, MI, on December 4, 1929, the son of John and Gertrude (Travnikar) Adamic. He spent his early years in Detroit until 1940 when his family moved to North Branch. John married Virginia Klauka on July 29, 1950. They celebrated 70 wonderful years together this past July. John was a farmer his entire life. John was a Charter member of the Imlay City Knights of Columbus. He once served as a Grand Knight of the Council. He was also a member of the Lapeer Elks and Eagles.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Robert (Ann) Adamic, Barbara Whitwell and Edward (Sandy) Adamic; his grandchildren, Norman (Amanda) Adamic, Thomas Adamic, Lisa (Trey) Bazinaw, Elizabeth Whitwell, Steven (Grace) Adamic, Katie (Matt) Grabowski and Andrew (Taylor) Adamic; his great-grandchildren, Amelia Adamic, Vera and Henry Bazinaw, Logan and Jacob Adamic, Rayna, Ellie and Maddie Grabowski; his sister, Loraine (Morse) Tackett; his sister-in-laws, Virgina Adamic, Doris Nellenbach, Norma Smith and Janet (Fred) Butler; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Adamic; his brothers, William, Daniel and Norman; his brother-in-laws, John Nellenbach and Philip Smith.

Douglas Kaufman, age 93, of Brown City, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital. Doug was born on February 25, 1927, the son of Enos and Louise (Doebler) Kaufman. He grew up in the Burnside area. Doug was a 1945 graduate of North Branch High School.
On December 30, 1988, he married Genevieve Kreiner at St. Mary’s Burnside Church. Doug was a dairy farmer. He farmed along with his brother Tony for many years. Doug enjoyed hunting especially rabbit hunting, playing cards, bird watching and traveling. Doug was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Burnside and a 61 year member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4556 of Imlay City.
Doug is survived by his special nephew “son”, Jesse (Amber) VanBuskirk; Jenny’s children, Carol (Dale) Cronce, Barbara Rexin, Lynn Kreiner and John (Angel) Kreiner; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his special canine companion, Sue. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny; his parents; his siblings, Anthony Kaufman, Helen VanBuskirk and Geraldine Martus; sons-in-law, Raymond Kreiner and Wayne Rexin.
Edward Pytleski of Berlin Township died peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 17, 2020. He was 76 years old. Eddie was the son of Joseph and Helen (nee’ Kowalczyk) Pytleski. The youngest of eight children, he was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 2, 1944. Growing up in Detroit, he graduated from Denby High School in 1962. He was a rough carpenter for over 50 years, working first with his father and then with his brother Ray and Ray’s sons. In 1973, he moved to Berlin Township with his parents and later to a duplex with his brother, Ray.
A lifelong Catholic, Eddie loved the Church and never missed a Holy Mass or Friday abstinence. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus Our Lady Queen of Peace in Imlay City. Eddie loved to travel, particularly to northern Michigan and the southwest United States, with family. He was an avid fisherman who fished in all seasons, from small ponds to the Great Lakes. Eddie golfed the local links and enjoyed hitting buckets of balls. He was a fan of the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings, listening to the games on the radio in his garage while enjoying a cold beer. Gardening, tending flowers, and taking photos with his Polaroid and disposable cameras were a favorite pastime with Eddie.
Eddie is survived by his brother Raymond (Florence) Pytleski of Berlin Township, sister Frances Clarke of Oxnard, California and brother-in-law, Robert Byrnes. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers Joe (Marge), Leonard (Theresa), Jim (Stella) and Tom (Delores); sisters Margaret Pytleski and Helen Byrnes, and co-worker and nephew Peter Pytleski.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, May 25, 2020 at Sacrred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. Reverend Father Noel Cornelio will officiate. Burial will follow at West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton, MI.
The family will be available for visiting hours from 2-5 & 6-8 pm Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City and from 10 – 11 am Monday, May 25, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm Sunday evening.
At this time “Social Distancing Procedures” are still in place and that means that there should be no more than 10 people in the funeral home chapel at any one time.

Deacon Thomas Yezak, III, age 76, of Dryden, Michigan died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Midland, MI. Thomas Joseph Yezak was born March 10, 1943 in Ferndale, MI. He is the son of the late Thomas and the late Beatrice (Simoneau) Yezak. Tom grew up in Ferndale. He is a graduate of Ferndale High School, Class of 1962. Tom furthered his education of Ferris State University. Tom also attended Sacred Heart Seminary, from 1981- 1988, in Detroit, MI and was ordained as a permanent Deacon. He married Marilyn Luke June 21, 1969 in Oak Park, Michigan. Tom and Marilyn lived in various places in Michigan: Ferndale, Oak Park, Ortonville, Lapeer, before moving to Dryden, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, October 16, 2017. He was employed as a mechanic/welder for 24 years by Genesee County Road Commission in Flint, MI, before retiring in 2000. Tom served as a trustee for the Village of Dryden, MI. Deacon Tom was a supervisor for the deacons in the Thumb Vicariate and Lakes Vicariate. His first assignment was at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Orion, MI and his second assignment was at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden, MI. Deacon Tom also helped at the following churches through the years: St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Capac, MI, St. John Catholic Church of Allenton, MI, Sacred Heart Church of Yale, MI, Sacred Heart of Brown City, MI, St. Christopher of Detroit, MI, and St. Anne’s Catholic Church of Ortonville, MI. Deacon Tom was a member and the Chaplin for the Knights of Columbus – Our Lady Queen of Peace in Imlay City, MI. He is survived by; his daughter: Catherine "Trina" Yezak of Dryden, MI; son: Joseph (Megan) Yezak of Midland, MI; his grand-daughter: Mari; one sister: Cynthia Barnes; and his two sisters-in-law: Nancy Yezak and Jana Yezak. Tom was preceded in death by: his wife: Marilyn Yezak; grandson: Richard Yezak; two brothers: Lawrence Yezak and James Yezak; and his brother-in-law: Roger Barnes. Raymond Jerome Ameloot, age 95, a resident of Armada Township since 1973, and previously from Mt Clemens, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Regency Nursing Facility in Shelby Township, Michigan. Ray was born on November 10, 1924 in Mt Clemens, the son of Jerome and Elizabeth (LeFevre) Ameloot. He married Florence Hellebuyck on July 16, 1949 at St Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, MI. Ray was a lifelong farmer, finally retiring at 90 years old. He raised vegetables at his Hayes Road farm where he was one of the first “Pick your own vegetables” farms. He also sold vegetables at the Eastern Market, the Farmer’s Market in Mt Clemens, the Armada Flea Market, and at his stand in front of his house on Hayes Road in Mt. Clemens. He also worked in maintenance at the GM Tech Center in Warren for 24 years until retirement in 1986. He was known for growing “Ray’s Famous Garlic and sweet corn”. He served in the Army during WW II while stationed in Korea. Along with his family they were long time members of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Allenton, member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd & 4th degree out of Imlay City. His hobbies included deer and pheasant hunting.
Ray is survived by his wife Florence, children: Barbara (Joseph) Drader of Grosse Pointe Woods, Linda (Wayne) Nemeth of Chesterfield Township, David (June) Ameloot of Ray Township, Lorraine (Stephen) Grix of Redford, Karen Ameloot of Salt Lake City, Utah and Michael of Detroit. Richard Herman Rapp, age 79, of Ray Township, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Medilodge Nursing Home in Richmond. He was born August 29, 1940 the son of Herman and Theresa (Fella) Rapp in Mt. Clemens. He graduated from Romeo High School in 1958. He married Cynthia A. Kerr in February of 1963 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. He retired from General Motors at the Tech Center in Warren as a wood shaper hand. Richard was an accomplished wood carver and creator of many wood pieces. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus # 4556, our Lady Queen of Peace of Imlay City. Richard loved to farm, raise horses but, most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved daughter Rebecca Pagan of Ray Twp., daughter in law Caroline Rapp of Ray Twp. and grandchildren Jessica Pagan and Daniel Rapp. Also surviving sister in law Karen Rapp. He was preceded by his beloved wife Cynthia, son Richard H. Rapp, II, grandson Cody Michael Pagan and brother Norbert and Karl.

John W. Cadwell, 77, of Almont, passed away Sunday August 11, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born September 24, 1941 the son of Harold and Emma Jane (Leneway) Cadwell and was raised in Dearborn. He married Carol Parker on February 3, 1961 and together they moved to Dryden in 1970 where they raised their family and were married for 46 years until Carol passed away in 2007. John worked in Tool and Die at many locations until getting a job at General Motors in 1981 where he worked for 24 years until his retirement. He married Martha Bearinger on November 22, 2014 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden. He was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 4556 Our Lady Queen of Peace in Imlay City. John enjoyed woodworking, gardening, golfing and bowling and had a great love of traveling.
He is survived by his wife Martha, two daughters Wendy (John) Fisher of Hooks, Texas and Kelly (Jimmy) Bock of Auburndale, Florida, grandchildren; Cindy Fisher, Kyle Fisher, Jacob Fisher, JJ Bock and McKenzie Bock, great-grandchildren; Jaci, Huntley, Libby, Ryker, Kutter, Hayes and Harper Mae, his siblings; Jane Shambleau, Robert Cadwell, Rachael Ballnik, Rick Cadwell, Bill Cadwell and Melissa Atkins, many nieces and nephews. Donald Robert Hayduk 60, of Brockway Township, while surrounded by his family, went to be with the Lord after a courageous health struggle on Monday, June 24, 2019, at McLaren Port Huron. He was born January 4, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Donald and Elaine (Ostrowski) Hayduk. His marriage to Katherine Beuthien was on October 25, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale.Don was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yale. He was a member of the Knight of the Columbus Council #8710 in Yale. He was a 3rd degree past Grand Knight. Don was also a 4th-degree member of Council #2032 in Imlay City and was the active Financial Comptroller. He loved old classic western movies, was a big fan of Turner Classic Movies, and liked watching sports. Don enjoyed mowing his lawn and birdwatching. Vincent McDermott, age 83, of Imlay Imlay City, Michigan died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at McLaren Lapeer Region of Lapeer, MI. Vincent Francis McDermott was born December 27, 1933 in Detroit, MI. He is the son of the late Vincent Edward and the late Blanch Catherine (Malone) McDermott. Vince graduated from high school in Detroit. Vince served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956. He married Marcella Betty Bader on April 16, 1955 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Detroit, Michigan. Vince worked for the Ford Motor Company for 30 + years. He was a millwright. He worked at the VanDyke and Mound Axle Plants and at the Sterling Heights Trim Plant. He retired from Ford Motor Company in the early 1980's. Vince was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. When he was able, he sang in the choir. Vince was a long time member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus in Imlay City. Julius Pietras, age 89, of Dryden, Michigan, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his home. Julius Joseph Pietras was born February 13, 1929 in Hamtramck, MI. He is the son of the late Stanley and the late Rose (Kulwicki) Pietras. Julius grew up in the Hamtramck, Detroit, and Warren areas. He is a graduate of St. Florian High School, Class of 1948. Julius proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 – 1953, during the Korean War. He married Barbara Jean Goline on August 29, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. Julius and Barbara have lived in the Dryden for 30 years. He was employed as a dispatcher at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (MichCon) in Detroit, MI and retired after 38 years. Julius worked in all facets of labor for MichCon. Julius was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus, Our Lady Queen of Peace and a member of the Imlay City American Legion, Post 129. Charles Edward Ruhlman, age 58, of Imlay City died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the United Hospice Residence of Marlette, MI. Chuck was born October 23, 1959 in Mt. Clemens, MI. He is the son of the late Anthony J. and the late Alvera Caroline (Kaltz) Ruhlman. Chuck grew up and lived most of his life in and around Imlay City. Chuck was a 1980 graduate of Imlay City High School. Right out of high school, Chuck went to work for the Imlay City Big Boy Restaurant, he worked there for 10 years. He worked at Mancino's Pizza in Lapeer for 15 years. Chuck also worked at Growth and Opportunity in Lapeer for a couple of years. Fr. Richard M. Schmidberger age 87 formerly of Brown City died April 17, 2018. He was born in Detroit June 1, 1930 to Paul and Helen Schmidberger. He attended Maryknoll-Glenn Ellyn and Maryknoll-New York Seminaries.
Fr. Schmidberger was ordained June 8, 1957 in Maryknoll, N.Y. His first assignment was as a Maryknoll Priest in La Paz, Boliva where he served for 14 years. He then served as an associate pastor at St. Genevieve Parish, Livonia (!969-72); and St. Mark Parish, Warren (1972-73). He returned to St. Genevieve Parish as an associate pastor (1973-77), and in 1977 was appointed as an associate pastor at St. Gabriel Parish in southwest Detroit. That year Fr. Schmidberger was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Detroit.
In 1980, he was named temporary associate pastor at St. John the Baptist Parish in Monroe. He became pastor of St. Anthony Parish in Temperance in 1981. In 1986, Fr. Schmidberger was named pastor of St. Nicholas Parish in Capac. He served as vicar of the Thumb Vicariate (1986-89).
He was pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Lapeer (1987-90), and St. Henry Parish, Lincoln Park (1990-96). In 1996 Fr. Schmidberger became pastor of St. Mary Parish in Burnside Township as well as Sacred Heart Mission in Brown City and served threr until he was granted senior priest status in 2000. From 2004-07, Fr. Schmidberger served as administrator of Sacred Heart Mission and was very instrumental in the building of the new church Brown City.
He was preceded in death by a cousin Jacquline Murphy.

Richard Carl Sasseen was born November 19, 1940 in Detroit, MI. He is the son of the late Carl and the late Petronella Helen (Salasevicus) Sasseen. He grew up in Romeo. He was a graduate of Romeo High School, Class of 1958. Richard married Nancy Jeanne Wylin on September 10, 1960 in Armada, Michigan. Richard was the owner of Rich Tool in Romeo; he was a Machine Builder. Rich Tool also operated a business in Imlay City for a few years. He also ran an excavation business in Romeo. Richard was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus in Imlay City. He is survived by: his wife: Nancy Jeanne Sasseen; his daughter: Kimberly Sue Sasseen of Imlay City, MI; sons: Michael G. Sasseen of Washington, MI and Timothy R. Robert “Bob” Campbell, age 86, of Almont, Michigan, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at The Pines of Lapeer. Robert Russell Campbell was born September 14, 1931 in Detroit, MI. He is the son of the late Harley and the late Irene (Ciscke) Campbell. He grew up in Warren and Detroit, MI and attended Northeastern High School. He married Nancy Lee Goline on April 28, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan. They lived in the Warren area until 1987, when they moved to Almont, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, June 30, 2009. Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by General Motors as a pipefitter in the Hydromatic / Power Train Division. Bob retired from GM in 1994 after 30 years. Bob enjoyed watching western television shows, fishing, and going out to eat. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus: Our Lady Queen of Peace Council 4556 in Imlay City and the Cardinal Mooney Assembly 2032 in Utica. James J. Konarski, Sr., age 82, of Capac, Michigan died Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital - Oakland Campus in Pontiac, MI. James Joseph Konarski was born August 16, 1935 in Dearborn, MI. He is the son of the late Joseph and the late Theodosa (Roszczewski) Konarski. James attended school in both Romeo and Almont. He married Barbara Jessie White on February 25, 1956 in Romeo, Michigan. They lived in Romeo, moved to Imlay City, and retired to Alpena before moving back to the Capac area. James retired from the Ford Motor Proving Grounds in Romeo after 30 years. He was a Performance – Specialty Test Driver. James also had a dairy farm in the Imlay City area for many years and worked in his spare time with the Konarski Brothers building homes. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City and was a member of the 4th Degree Council of the Knights of Columbus in Utica. James is survived by: his wife: Barbara Jessie (White) Konarski; his sons: James J. (& Sharon) Konarski, II of Emmett, MI and Edward W. Catherine was born June 4, 1930 in Centerline, MI, daughter of the late Henry and Alvera (Grobbel) Ruhlman. She graduated from North Branch High School with the Class of 1948. Catherine married Clare Kreiner April 19, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church and they were married 62 years until his death December 27, 2012. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a past member of the Altar Society. Catherine loved spending time with family, friends and her church family. She enjoyed playing cards and tending to her flower gardens.
Catherine is survived by her children, Bernadette Perales of Brown City, Monica Liblong of Marlette, Theresa (Gary) Lipka of Marlette, Tom (Sue) Kreiner of Sunfield, Gert (Dan) Zyrowski of North Branch, Ann (Rick) Reinelt of Vassar, Virginia (Bill) Ankley of North Branch, Elizabeth (Walt) Musiel of Marlette, William (Marie) Kreiner of Brown City, Frances (Vic) Guerrero of North Branch, Gerald (Becky) Kreiner of Marlette, Ben Kreiner of North Branch, Mary (Paul) Pytleski of Brown City, Joan (Larry) Guildi of North Branch, Ron Kreiner of North Branch; six brothers and sisters, Lucille Schank of North Branch, Irene (Joe) Vohs of Centerline, Tom Ruhlman of North Branch, Pat (Joanne) Ruhlman of North Branch, Dolores (Seth) Griffin of North Branch, Gertrude (Vern) Steele of Clifford; 61 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clare Martin Kreiner; brothers and sisters, Joan Hagemeister, Anthony Ruhlman, Robert Ruhlman, Mary Bentz and baby sister Monica; and grandchildren, James Kreiner, Dana Zyrowski and Jeremy Zyrowski.
Kenneth E. White, age 73, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016. Beloved Husband of Joyce, recently celebrating 50 wonderful years of marriage on September 23, 2016; Loving Father of Susan (Darrin) Walters, Linda White-Robinson and Jeffrey (Marisa) White; Dear Grandfather of Zachary, Tyler, Allysun, Isaiah, Samantha and James. Ken is survived by Sister-in-Law Jacqueline, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother William Mount. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrestal from 1961 to 1963. Ken retired from the GM Tech Center after 30 loyal years. He enjoyed working on cars and along with his wife, were NASCAR enthusiasts. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Ken loved spending time with his immediate and extended family. He will be missed and cherished by all. Robert Raymond Linck, age 96, of Brown City, Michigan passed away and went to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 25, 2016. He was born on August 7, 1920, the only child of Raymond and Cecilia Linck. Robert served four years in the Air Force during WWII repairing B-29's at bases in India, China and Tinian. He was a lifelong member of the Brown City VFW and instrumental along with other community members to get it established.On his return from military service Robert married Patricia Husson, December 29, 1945 and enjoyed a faithful and happy marriage for over 70 years. While working in Detroit and employed by Detroit Edison he and Pat decided to move back to the farm where he joined his father in dairy farming for over 35 years. After he sold the cows he became the County Executive Director for the Lapeer County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) where he became a tireless advocate for local farmers. He was a talented writer and wrote a weekly farm information column for the Lapeer County Press. After retiring from the ASCS in 1982 he continued writing and developed the Thumb Farm News that became the Farm and Country Journal where he was editor, commenting on farm policy and newsworthy events both local and national. During this time he and Pat traveled extensively as hosts for the Rural Route Tours.He remained active on the farm and in 1991 he along with his son converted the family farm to certified organic farming that is now a Centennial Farm known as Raub Rae Farm. He was past director of the Organic Crop Improvement Association (O.C.I.A.) a supervisor for Goodland Township and on the Zoning Commission, a member of Michigan Milk Producers, Michigan Farmers Union and a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Church in Brown City. He was a devoted son, faithful husband, loving father, organic farmer and environmentalist, a poet and a thinker.He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Patricia Linck; seven children, Judith Linck of Sacramento, CA, Mary Pat Linck and her husband Michael J. Ryan of Marquette, MI, Bette Nikodemski and her husband Jim of Colchester, CT, Yvonne Osborne and her husband David of Brown City, Christine Rhodes of Brown City, Catherine Dodge and her husband Leonard of Palmdale, CA and a son John Linck and wife Barbara of Brown City; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A viewing and visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Brown City. A rosary service will be Sunday at 6:30 p.m.Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brown City. His grandsons will serve as Casket bearers and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Ulysses "Jake" G. Dennis, Jr., 74, or Lapeer, died Wednesday June 29, 2016. He was born July 31, 1941 in Almont to parents "Jake" and Verna (White) Dennis, Sr. Mr. Dennis married Dorothy Bruman on February 27, 1960 in Lapeer.
Jake proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Pontiac Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Mr. Dennis has been a long term member of Immaculate Conception Church as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and tinkering on his John Deere tractor. Above all else; he was a good man, a loving - husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife of 56 years: Dorothy, children: Mike (Dawn) Dennis of Jenison, Terri (Michael) Craig of Highlands Ranch, CO, Patti (Nathan) Baize of Marlette, Karen Downs of Parker, CO, Dan (Glenda) Dennis of Lapeer, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren (& one on the way), sister: Sarah Weingartz of Attica, several: nieces, nephews and good friends. Jake was preceded in death by his sister: Juanita LaVene, granddaughter: Mikita Dennis and his parents.
His visitation will be 2-4/5-8pm Monday, with a 7:00pm rosary at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The funeral mass will be 11:00am Tuesday July 5, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer, officiated by Father Doc Ortman. Burial will follow at Stiles Cemetery, with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
Edward Chick, age 72, of Almont, Michigan, died suddenly Friday, June 17, 2016 at home. Edward Jerome Chick was born September 17, 1943 in Hamtramck, MI. He is the son of the late Edward Anthony and Joan R. (Kowalski) Chick. Ed grew up in East Detroit; and spent much of his youth in the Attica and Imlay City areas. He was a 1961 graduate of Imlay City High School. He attended Flint Junior College for two years majoring in music. He graduated from Detroit Barber College. He married Jeanette Gerlach on January 8, 1966 in Romeo, Michigan. Ed studied music in college; he played in a band and played piano, and accordion. He even gave accordion lessons at one time. Ed has been a Barber for 52 years. Ed started barbering in both Grosse Pointe and Romeo before coming back to Imlay City to buy the Barber Shop on East Third Street in 1969 (1969 -- 2016). He has been in semi-retirement for a few years, but still could be found at “Chick's Barber Shop” three or four days a week as recent as two weeks ago. Ed has raised cattle (especially Hereford and Red Limousine) for several years. He has also run a livestock transportation business; taking local farmers animals and his own cattle to the Marlette Stockyard every week. Mr. Chick was a member of: Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Imlay City; Our Lady Queen Of Peace Knights Of Columbus; and the Imlay City Lions Club. Ed is survived by his wife: Jeanette Chick of Almont, one daughter: Patti (& Jason) Carte of Elgin, IL and two sons: Edward (& Sue Plachta) Chick of Lapeer and Tim (& Marilyn) Chick of Attica, MI; his grandson: Lucas Carte of Elgin, IL; his mother Joan R. Chick of Satellite Beach, FLA; two sisters: Diane Laudadio of Indialantic, FLA and Joan Chick of Melbourne, FLA; and one brother: Daniel Chick of Indialantic, FLA. Ed is preceded by his father: Edward A. Chick; and a brother: Gerard A. Chick. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 22 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. The Reverend Fr. Matt Kafka will officiate. A Rosary / Scripture prayer service will be held 7:30 pm Tuesday June 21, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home Of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Burial will follow at the Mt.
